My name is Eric Rhodes, Head DJ and Owner of Rhodes Entertainment. I’d like take a few minutes to describe the importance of hiring a professional DJ, then tell you about who I am, what services my company provides and why past clients say hiring me was one of the best decisions they’ve ever made.
THE SURVEY
There was a survey done in the early 2000’s to find out “What Couples Think About DJ’s AFTER Their Reception Is Over.”
They found that:
• 72% of all brides surveyed said they would’ve spent MORE TIME choosing their reception entertainment.
• 78% of brides said they would have made the entertainment their HIGHEST PRIORITY. All of them said they would have spent more money on the entertainment.
• In the planning process, couples tend to spend more time and money on the dress & attire, venue and catering. Entertainment is usually last on the list, yet MORE THAN 50% OF YOUR GUESTS will likely remember the entertainment over anything else.
If more people are likely to remember the entertainment, then isn’t it worth investing in a high-quality DJ that is talented and experienced? I believe every wedding is about creating memories. Having the right DJ & MC can ensure that you and your guests will have a night to remember. Ultimately, you want your friends & family saying “that was, by far, the best wedding I’ve ever been too!” Ahem, this is where I come in.
ABOUT ME
~ I started mixing vinyl records back in 1999, playing at coffee shops and house parties.
~ I moved to Boise in 2005 and started taking my hobby more seriously by mixing at several venues across the valley, including Red Feather Lounge, Neurolux and China Blue. More recently, I’ve been a resident DJ at Barbacoa and The Owyhee Penthouse.
~ These opportunities have given me a wide range of musical experience; everything from Top 40, Country, Latin, Hip-Hop, Electronic, Classic Rock and Oldies. That’s a valuable skill set to have when dealing with diverse crowds which weddings tend to have.
~Speaking of weddings, I’ve been doing those and larger private events since 2009 and have around 100 weddings under my belt.
~ I was one of the recipients of the Wedding Wire Couples Choice Awards for 2015 & 2016 and was also the winner of the 2013 Boise Art Museums’ Diverge DJ Competition.
OTHER EXPERIENCES
~ I was a server, bartender and manager of restaurants in college and for a few years in Boise. One of the owners of Red Feather Lounge once told the entire staff that I had given him the best service he’s ever received. I use those service skills and communication skills with my clients before and during all of my events.
~Having a background in Videography and TV News Production has given me the ability to work in fast-paced, high stress environments. Weddings are fun, but they can also be intense. I know how to stay cool during those times.
~ These other skills also allow me to understand and work closely with other vendors, because I’ve been in their shoes. This helps create a cohesive and team-oriented environment on your wedding day, which is crucial to the success of your big day.
SERVICES
Equipment:
I provide everything you’d expect from a professional company. A full, high-quality sound system suitable for up to 350 people with wireless microphones and fun dance floor lighting.
You can also get extras like decorative up-lighting, a dance floor and a 2nd sound system for the ceremony at a separate location.
Planning Assistance:
This includes a Ceremony & Reception Planning Form in which you can organize all of your important songs like First Dance and Cake Cutting.
You’ll also get access to an Event Timeline Form which allows you to create a custom timeline with drop-down menu’s. It’s very helpful and easy to use.
Finally, you can access the Music Requests Page. You can search a large database containing thousands of songs and artists. You simply click on the song that you like and add it to a “Must Play,” “Play If Possible” or the ever important “Do Not Play List.”
These are very helpful with staying organized and communicating your information to me.
Don’t feel like you’re alone in this process either. I’m always available to help choose music and create the perfect timeline for you. I also require that we meet at least once before the wedding day to ensure that all of the details are taken care of.
