Ready. Set. Action!
Leon’s 30th Birthday Bash last Friday night at Beside The Bardenay in Boise was high energy from the start. The Hollywood theme had everyone in his or her nicest attire and ready to party. It kicked off around 7:00 PM and went until 11:00 PM. There were plenty of cocktails, wine and beer from the bar and a little “selfie” photo booth, which I thought was a nice addition to the party. Guests could take a selfie against the starry background then post it on social media using a specific hashtag. A great idea!
I thought it’d be fun to bring in my friend and photographer Mike Tetro with Tetro Productions to take some party pictures as well. Mike always does a fantastic job and this night wasn’t any different. I think he really captured the energy of the dance floor and the overall vibe of the night.
Musically, Leon requested a lot of Top 40 dance music and classic hits from the 90’s and early 2000’s. I also set up an account on my website so that his guests could make requests leading up to the party. There was no shortage of requests, so I did my best to get all of them played while still sticking with the overall atmosphere Leon expected.

I also tried my best to draw special attention to Leon. It was obvious he had a lot of friends who truly cared about him, so I wanted to emphasize that. A few times on a whim, I’d have everyone make some noise for Leon. Then we’d form a dance circle in which everyone started dancing, laughing and cheering for him. I thought it was a nice touch that he and his friends seemed to enjoy.
When it was all over, I knew the night was a success. Leon approached me several times after the party just to thank me. It’s all worth it knowing that he had a night to remember and that I was fortunate enough to be a part of it.
